Good Faith Estimate

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate that outlines the expected cost of your medical or mental health care.

  • By law, healthcare providers are required to offer a cost estimate for services—including psychotherapy—for individuals who are uninsured or not using insurance.

  • You’re entitled to a Good Faith Estimate for the total anticipated cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including therapy sessions.

  • You may request a Good Faith Estimate from your therapist—or any other provider—before scheduling a service.

  • If your final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you have the right to dispute the charges. Be sure to keep a copy or photo of your estimate for your records.
